Eucharistic Ministry of the Homebound
Catholics are a Eucharistic people! In the gift of the Eucharist, we receive the Body and Blood of Christ...His true presence. After the act of consecration, it becomes food from heaven. Vatican II calls the Eucharistic Mass is "the source and summit" of our Christian lives. The Eucharist is our feast. We approach the altar to be nourished by the Body and Blood of our Savior, Jesus.
When we can’t attend Mass due to illness, accident, or age, we miss hearing the word of God and receiving the gift of Holy Communion. Parishioners who are homebound, can notify the office and request a Eucharistic Visitor who will bring Communion to their home. Holy Mother Church comes to you out of her concern, care, and love. Jesus wants those who are homebound to know of his love and concern.

Funeral Planning Ministry
During trying times, this ministry helps grieving families schedule a funeral Mass and Graveside services. They’re assisted on filling out a Funeral Planning form to get more information about the deceased and his family, Mass times, songs, readings, gift bearer, and eulogist. If the family so desires, this also is the time to plan for a reception after Mass. Dcn. Rey Ronquillo meets the family, personally. He goes over the different Catholic Rites, including Vigils and Prayers after Death, and what can be brought to the Church on the day of the Funeral Mass.
Funeral Homes can directly contact him if the family only wants a Graveside or Committal Service. A Funeral Mass cannot be scheduled on weekends. The Mass can be live streamed for family members and friends who are unable to attend. On the day of the Mass, the funeral ushers will welcome the family and direct them according to their requests.

Stephen Ministry
Based on Saint Stephen, the Christian Martyr. The Stephen Ministry is a lay ministry providing one-on-one Christian care with trained volunteers for adult parishioners who are hurting, offering both emotional and spiritual support while letting God provide the cure. We currently meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, from 10:00 AM to Noon, upstairs in Hallen Hall Room 4.
Mental Health Ministry
Sacred Heart Parish’s mental health ministry offers accompaniment, spiritual care and psychoeducational resources to parishioners who live with or care for a loved one with a mental health disorder. The ministry collaborates with the Archdiocese of Seattle’s Mental Health Ministry and the Thurston/Mason County National Alliance in Mental Illness (NAMI) to offer information and training opportunities. This important ministry is under the patronage of St. Dymphna, patron of individuals living with neurological and mental illnesses. For more information or to volunteer in the ministry, contact Brent Hyde.
