Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in the mission: “Baptism is the sacrament or regeneration through water and in the word.” Catechism of the Catholic Church

Parents seeking to have their children baptized (age infant to 7 years old) must register for the scheduled class by calling the office 491-0890 ext 103 and providing your name, address, and phone number. The family should be a registered parishioner of Sacred Heart, and if not, a letter is needed from the pastor of the Church where you are registered and attend, granting permission to have your child baptized at Sacred Heart. Due to limited space, registration closes one week prior to the scheduled class. Parents also need to provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate on the night of the class or before a baptismal certificate can be issued.

Baptism class schedules:   Contact the office to register for the next baptism class

There will be a fee of $5.00

Both the parents and the godparents need to attend the class. If godparents are from another parish, they can take the baptism class at their local parish and a letter is needed from their pastor stating they have taken the class and are eligible to be a godparent. The requirements to be a godparent are: (1) must be at least 16 years of age; (2) received the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) in the Catholic Church; and (3) be in good standing in the Catholic Church and if married, must be married in the Catholic church.
